My Top 5 Holiday Pop-Up Bars in JoCo — And Why I Love Each

1. Blue Moose Bar & Grill — the “do everything” spot

The Twinkle Pop Up Bar with special food menu options and full blown holiday cocktail and mocktail list!

Why I love it: Blue Moose hits that sweet spot — kid-friendly enough for a family dinner, but casual and fun enough for a lunch with friends or a happy hour with girlfriends. On one night, you might be sharing a burger or mac & cheese with kids; another night, sipping cocktails while catching up with friends. I love having one reliable spot that works for so many occasions.

2. Martin City Brewing Company — Lenexa Pizza & Taproom

Big Christmas at Martin City is known for the special cocktails. With an already vibrant Happy Hour, I strongly urge you to go online and make reservations!

Why I love it: For a fun, easy date night — good drinks, good food, and a cozy, relaxed vibe with a great Happy Hour. I love Lenexa and having MCBC close by makes it an effortless option after work or on the weekends. The wood-fired pizzas and craft beer pair beautifully, and the atmosphere hits the sweet spot between laid-back and “date night out.”

3. Red Crow Brewing Company — hot chocolate + holiday lights run with the kids

Red Crow has an amazing menu and beer list but this year’s Grinch Christmas Pop Up is perfect for bringing the kids too! Decor was most unique here too!

Why I love it: Red Crow has that fun, laid-back vibe with great craft beer and cocktails — but more importantly for me, it’s kid-friendly enough to enjoy a hot chocolate with the kids. I’m picturing us grabbing hot chocolate, enjoying holiday-themed drinks or treats, then heading out to look at Christmas lights. The decor always feels festive and unique, and it makes a chill but special outing for the family this season.

4. Burger Shed Olathe — casual date night with burgers, drinks & holiday vibes

Blitzen’s at the Burger Shed requires no reservations and has a ton of photo opportunities. My parents are now staying there for their holiday trip to Kansas! The drinks at the bar were fun which makes for a perfect date night!

Why I love it: For nights when you want something relaxed but fun — good drinks, creative burgers, cozy yet casual atmosphere. The seasonal pop-up (called “Blitzen’s at Burger Shed”) brings in holiday decor, festive cocktails, and a cheerful holiday vibe without overdoing it. Perfect for a low-stress date night when you want a little seasonal magic plus comfort food and drinks.

5. Barley's Kitchen + Tap — for groups, coworkers, or work events

Visit Twinkle at Barley’s Kitchen + Tap for a fun night out with a group, work event or private event! The reserved rooms have their own themes. Also known for a good Happy Hour, which puts this on my top Work Happy Hour to do!

Why I love it: When I’m organizing something for a group — coworkers, clients, friends — Barley’s stands out. They have specialty rooms you can reserve, which makes a big difference when you want a private, hassle-free event rather than squeezing into a crowded bar. It’s ideal for small work holiday parties, group dinners, or a fun gathering without the stress.

Whether you’re exploring holiday pop-ups or new neighborhoods this season, I’m here to guide you through all things Johnson County. Reach out anytime—I'd love to help you feel right at home.
